Embroidery That Forms Part of the Wallcovering
Genuine embroidered wallpaper uses stitched threadwork as part of the decorative surface rather than simply printing the appearance of embroidery. Designs can range from restrained linear stitching to richly embellished textiles incorporating layered threads, beads and other applied details.
Genuine stitched detail
Physical embroidery creates real changes in relief, shadow and sheen that cannot be reproduced in the same way by a flat printed surface.
Handmade character
Small variations in stitching, alignment or surface tension can be inherent to handcrafted wallcoverings and may form part of the intended appearance.
Specialist construction
Embroidery may be applied to a textile face mounted on paper, non-woven or another specialist backing, so installation requirements vary by design.

Ordering Embroidered Wallpaper
Embroidered wallcoverings can differ considerably from conventional printed wallpaper. Some are wide-width textiles supplied by the linear metre, while others have substantial pattern repeats or applied decorative elements that require particularly careful handling.
Check the published width, repeat, backing, supply format and manufacturer's adhesive and hanging instructions before calculating quantities or arranging installation.
Care is also important during hanging. Stitching, fibres, beads and other applied details can be vulnerable to paste contamination, excessive rubbing or inappropriate cleaning.
For particularly delicate or valuable textile wallcoverings, we recommend using a decorator experienced in specialist wallcovering installation and following the manufacturer's instructions for the exact design.
