The method
How the estimate is worked out
Every estimate follows these steps, in this order.
1. Cut length
The trimming allowance is added to the wall height and rounded up to whole pattern repeats. For a half-drop match every second drop is half a repeat longer.
2. Drops
The wall width is divided by the wallpaper width and rounded up to whole drops. Walls calculated together are added up first; walls calculated separately are each rounded up.
3. Rolls
The drops are cut from the rolls in turn to find the number of rolls, or added up to give linear metres for wide-width wallcoverings.
4. Rounding
The optional contingency is added, and the total is rounded up to the product's minimum order and selling increment.
Questions
Is the result the amount I should order?
It is an estimate for guidance, based on the measurements and wallpaper details you enter. Our team will happily check your quantities before you order: use Request a quantity check under your estimate, or call 01733 230499.
Do doors and windows reduce the quantity?
Only when they are wide enough to save whole drops. Add them under Doors and windows and the calculator takes off the drops they save, keeping the short pieces needed above and below.
What is a half-drop match?
A pattern that lines up half a repeat lower on every second drop. The calculator allows the extra length on every second drop.
Where do I find the roll width, length and repeat?
On the wallpaper's product page. Search for the wallpaper in the calculator and the details are filled in for you.
