Made to measure by TM Interiors
Create an upholstered headboard around your bed, room and chosen fabric. Select a standard or custom size, choose the headboard shape and decide how you would like it finished, with specialist help available throughout the specification.

Made around your room
A made-to-measure headboard can change the proportions and character of a bedroom. The size, outline, fabric and upholstery finish can all be considered together so the finished piece feels connected to the bed and the wider room rather than added as an afterthought.
Start with one of our established headboard shapes or use them as a point of reference for something more individual. Then choose a fabric, decide whether a standard or custom size is right for the room and select the finish that best suits the design.
The same fabric can also be carried into curtains, Roman blinds or cushions where you want a more coordinated scheme.

Experience behind the service
TM Interiors began as a family interiors business in 1975 and is now run by the second generation. Fabrics, upholstery and made-to-measure furnishings have remained central to the business, with the service now available to customers throughout the UK and internationally.
How it works
The headboard builder brings the main specification choices together, while custom sizes and more individual requirements can be discussed with us directly.
Select a standard bed size, a shorter 70 cm option or specify a custom width and height for the project.
Browse designer upholstery fabrics, order samples where available and consider pattern scale, texture and colour in the room.
Select from the established headboard profiles below or ask us about alternative proportions and bespoke outlines.
Complete the upholstery specification with buttoning, fluting, panelling, piping, studs or another suitable finish.
Standard, short or custom
The builder includes the main UK bed widths in a standard 100 cm headboard height, shorter 70 cm versions, and a custom-size route where a different width or height is needed.
Need a different width, height or proportion? Choose the custom-size route and tell us what the room requires. Custom sizing is particularly useful for unusually wide beds, taller statement headboards or projects where the finished dimensions need to respond to surrounding furniture, sockets, lighting or architectural details.
Builder image: add a pencil-drawn custom-size illustration in the same visual style as the existing standard-size tiles.
Choose your profile
The existing shape collection gives you a starting point ranging from simple curves to more decorative silhouettes. The shape can then be interpreted in your chosen fabric and upholstery finish.

Looking for something different? The eight shapes are useful starting points, but custom proportions or alternative outlines can be discussed for suitable projects. Send us a reference image or sketch together with the dimensions you have in mind.
Finish inspiration
These three room examples show how differently a headboard can feel when the upholstery treatment changes. Deep buttoning creates depth and shadow, fluting introduces a tailored rhythm, while panelling gives a more architectural result. The complete set of eight finish options is shown immediately below.

A deeply upholstered, traditional finish that creates strong shadow and texture. Particularly effective in plain fabrics and velvets where the upholstery detail can take the lead.

Vertical or horizontal fluting creates a cleaner architectural rhythm and works well where you want the upholstery to feel tailored and contemporary.

Square, vertical or horizontal panels introduce structure and can be used to create a strong contemporary feature behind the bed.
All finish options

A deeply upholstered treatment creating strong shadow, softness and texture.

Buttons can be covered in the same fabric for subtle detail or contrasted where the design calls for it.

Vertical or horizontal fluting creates a tailored, architectural rhythm.

Square, vertical or horizontal panels create a clean and contemporary upholstered structure.

A tailored edge treatment that can emphasise curved or shaped headboard profiles.

Decorative studs can trace the headboard outline and add a more defined upholstery detail.

A more dimensional treatment that works particularly well with squarer profiles and can be finished plain or piped.

A simple upholstered finish where the piping cleanly defines the headboard shape.
Finishes can be combined with the shape and fabric. Not every treatment is appropriate for every fabric or headboard profile, so we can help confirm what will work before manufacture.

Fabric selection
The fabric can make a headboard quiet and architectural or turn it into the focal point of the room. TM Interiors gives you access to a much wider designer-fabric collection than a conventional headboard range, including linens, velvets, plains, textures, prints and performance upholstery fabrics.
For a headboard, consider how the pattern will sit across the shape, how the scale works at the finished width and whether the fabric is appropriate for upholstery. A sample is particularly useful for judging colour and texture alongside bedding, flooring and wall finishes.
Mounting & specification
Our headboards can be specified for wall mounting or bed-frame mounting. The right approach depends on the bed, finished height, room layout and the way you want the headboard to relate to the mattress and wall.
Custom sizing also lets you respond to bedside lighting, sockets, switches, wall panelling and other architectural details rather than forcing the room around a standard headboard.

Yes. The service is designed around choosing a suitable upholstery fabric from the wider TM Interiors collection. If you already have a fabric in mind, we can help check suitability for the headboard shape and finish.
Where sampling is available, we recommend seeing the fabric in the room before finalising the headboard. This is particularly useful for judging colour, texture and the scale of patterned fabrics.
The established collection includes Moscow, London, Milan, Paris, Rome, New York, Hampton and Athens. Alternative profiles or proportions can also be discussed for suitable custom projects.
Options include deep buttoning, surface buttoning, fluting, panelling, piping, studded edges, built-out treatments and flat piped finishes. The most appropriate options depend on the chosen shape and fabric.
