What Is Mohair Upholstery Fabric?
Mohair is a natural fibre obtained from the Angora goat—not the Angora rabbit. In interiors it is particularly prized in pile upholstery fabrics, where the smooth fibre can create a luminous surface, saturated colour and a refined handle.
“Mohair fabric” does not always mean that every part of the cloth is 100% mohair. Many authentic mohair velvets use mohair in the visible pile with cotton or another fibre in the ground. Read the full composition rather than judging the fabric by its name alone.
