Explore contract fabric for hospitality, workplace, leisure and commercial interiors. Our collection includes upholstery cloths, curtain fabrics, wide-width sheers, dimouts, blackouts and specialist performance textiles from established contract brands.
Requirements vary by project and application. Order samples and contact us for current technical information, test certificates and help identifying fabrics that meet your design, durability, care and fire-performance brief.

Performance specified for its setting
Contract fabric is selected for commercial and public-facing interiors where appearance must be balanced with the demands of the installation. Depending on its use, the brief may include durability, cleanability, flame performance, lightfastness, acoustics, washability or resistance to staining and moisture.
Contract is not one universal certification. A fabric suitable for hotel curtains may not meet an upholstery brief, and a high abrasion result does not establish fire compliance. The required specification should therefore be confirmed for the individual product, application and project.
Fabrics for hotels, restaurants, bars, leisure spaces and other interiors balancing atmosphere with practical performance.
Textiles for offices, reception areas, education, healthcare and shared environments, subject to the project specification.
Options may include marine, outdoor, acoustic, antimicrobial, dimout, blackout and inherently flame-retardant textiles.

Privacy, atmosphere and light control
Curtains occupy a significant visual area in hotels, restaurants and public interiors. Transparent and semi-transparent fabrics can soften daylight and provide a degree of privacy, while decorative drapery, dimout and blackout fabrics offer progressively greater coverage and light control.
Important considerations include fire performance, width, repeat, washability, lightfastness, acoustics and whether the fabric is intended to hang room-high or be used conventionally. Confirm the current specification before ordering.

Durability matched to use
Contract upholstery may be used on restaurant seating, hotel furniture, workplace chairs, reception seating and headboards. The correct cloth must suit the expected frequency and manner of use as well as the shape of the furniture.
Abrasion results such as Martindale or Wyzenbeek can inform durability, but they are only one part of the assessment. Pilling, seam performance, colourfastness, cleaning, fire requirements and the construction of the finished furniture may also matter.

Design across demanding interiors
Hospitality textiles need not look institutional. Plain, textured and patterned fabrics can coordinate upholstery, curtains, cushions, headboards and decorative panels while meeting the practical demands of the project.
Begin with the setting and application rather than a single performance label. A restaurant banquette, hotel bedroom curtain and occasional lounge chair can each require a different combination of durability, care and fire-performance evidence.

Specify the properties the project needs
Performance fabrics may offer properties such as stain resistance, easier cleaning, enhanced lightfastness, moisture resistance or antimicrobial finishes. Outdoor fabrics additionally need to suit exterior exposure, but their capabilities and care requirements vary.
No single performance claim proves overall contract suitability. Review the supplier’s current technical data and cleaning instructions, and confirm whether the proposed installation is indoor, sheltered outdoor or fully exposed.

Large windows, daylight and acoustics
Room-high and wide-width curtain fabrics can reduce joins across large windows, while sheers and inbetweens filter light and soften extensive glazed areas. Some textiles also have documented sound-absorbing properties that can support an acoustic scheme.
Width alone does not establish how a fabric should be used. Confirm its orientation, usable width, railroaded direction, repeat, fire performance and acoustic test data where these are required by the project.
Evidence before assumption
Some contract textiles are inherently flame retardant, including qualifying Trevira CS constructions; others may be supplied in an FR version or treated for a particular standard. A test result applies to the stated fabric, treatment, backing, construction and test method—it should not be generalised to every colourway or finished application without confirmation.
Please provide the required standard, end use, project location and any information about the finished construction when enquiring. We can then request the latest technical documentation from the supplier. Final approval remains with the project’s responsible specifier, fire consultant or other competent authority.

Frequently asked questions
Suitability depends on the application and project specification. Relevant factors can include durability, fire performance, cleaning, lightfastness, pilling, stain resistance, acoustics and environmental certification.
No. Contract suitability and flame performance are related but separate questions. Confirm the precise test standard required and obtain current documentation for the selected product and finished application.
Not by itself. Martindale measures abrasion resistance under a particular test method. Other characteristics and project requirements must also be considered.
Trevira CS textiles use inherently flame-retardant polyester fibres whose properties are built into the fibre. The required product certification and applicable test results should still be checked for the project.
We can request available technical information from the supplier. Tell us the product, colourway, end use, project location and required standard so that the correct documentation can be identified.
Often yes, provided its appearance, handle and specification suit the intended use. Contract fabrics can be particularly useful where durability, cleanability or specialist performance is desirable.
