Upholstery Fabric - 7 Florals To Consider.

Upholstery fabric that can make a statement is back in fashion and there is an abundance of floral prints around this summer worthy of covering an individual chair, stylish sofa or chaise. We wouldn't call it a hot trend because well floral prints have been around forever and we are not trying to sell you anything, just point you in the direction of some. We looked a while back at how advanced techniques in the production of printed velvet fabrics has seen what you could call a velvet revolution, in the way pattern and prints can now be applied to this once plain, or crushed, upholstery fabric. First up, but in no particular order, the lovely Osborne and Little Butterfly Garden is undoubtedly a floral fabric to marvel at. We have said it before it looks almost Timorous beasties style, but regardless the contrast of the monochrome large flower heads and the colour butterflies creates a really interesting upholstery fabric that when put to good use can make an exciting statement chair in your living area. Zoffany Fabrics Phoebe

Zoffany fabrics Phoebe appeared in their Woodville fabric collection a couple of years back. It still gets people talking in our design showroom because of the beauty of the large scale printed floral fabric.   Our advice is to be careful though with only a 12,000 Martindale rub test you need to be sure not to use it on a item on furniture that not will get a lot of use, as it really only comes recommended as light domestic, plus it needs to be FR treated.

Harlequin Fabrics Giverny

Harlequin fabrics Giverny from their Impasto collection is a bold tribute to Monet's garden and another large scale floral design depicting overblown magnolias in full bloom. A busy brush stroked pattern sits relaxed over this chaise and looks all the more impressive with the detailed buttoning down the chaise arm, available in four colours with a 20,000 rub test.

Romo Fabrics Mariola

Romo fabrics Mariola from their popular Saphira collection launched this year is a vibrant textural cotton-linen of a softly painted watercolour floral that lays well on this sofa without arms. It could be said the Saphira fabric collection from Romo fabrics looks very similar to Voyage fabrics latest collection but regardless again like most of these floral upholstery fabrics mentioned here it has a Martindale rub test of 20,000 so suitable for domestic upholstery. Sanderson Fabrics Giselle

Sanderson fabrics Giselle move towards the more traditional vintage upholstery fabric, and while not a clear indication chintz is back, this rose print would sit perfectly in a country or period home.  Launched around a year back when that rustic, or shabby chic look was in fashion and part of Sanderson fabrics Fabienne collection. A Composition of 80% Viscose 20% Linen, and Martindale of 20,000 it is suitable for general domestic upholstery.  

Morris and Co Fabrics

Talking of vintage, in true traditional style look no further than Morris and Co fabrics that has been resurrecting classic William Morris designs and making them into worthwhile upholstery fabrics. If your wishing to add some character or creating a focal point to any room why not consider some of these traditional floral fabrics. Cotton fibre can provide a good resistance to wear fading and pilling and it is quite often the case, that it has a softer feel.
