The SAVOY THEATRE in London was built by Richard D'Oyly Carte in the late nineteenth century to be the home of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. The designs in the Savoy Velvets names all allude to the work of this famous collaboration, and the plain MIKADO VELVET and SAVOY BRAIDS combine particularly well with these patterned velvets. Enjoy such qualities as seen in the small-scale trellis design of Toto composed of cut-velvet circles and squares, and the narrow multi-coloured vertical stripes in their Gondolier Fabric.
