Cole and Son Pearwood Wallpapers

The Pearwood Collection pays tribute to Cole & Son’s rich design heritage, blending traditional print techniques with modern design. Launching at London Focus 2019 on it pays homage to its extensive block print archive and the print techniques pioneered by the design house throughout its vibrant history. The Pearwood Wallpaper range takes its name from the fruit wood blocks originally used by Cole & Son founder, John Perry. Pearwood was actually selected for its relative hardness, which allowed for cutting even the finest detail, yet possessing a durability that would allow for longevity of the blocks. With designs like Aurora and Boscobel Oak that uses many of the monarchical symbols of England such as the Tudor Rose, roaring lion, and the oak tree with great detail, to create an individual take on a traditional damask print you can understand the timeless nature and appeal of this collection. Certainly, if you place it alongside Woodville Orchard taken from a beautifully exotic and lush original block print which displays Plumose parrots that sit amongst a flourishing canopy of leaves and sun-ripened grapes, which is surface printed to ensure the traditional print mark-making textures are retained in this modern day reproduction. Surface Prints are not the only featured technique on display in the range, as Flock wallpapers can be seen in the designs of Fanfare Flock, Pugin Palace Flock and Pavo Parade.Celebrating past craftsmanship, this collection brings tradition and modernity together, ideal for a classic study or a grand living room.
