Nina Campbell Les Indiennes Fabrics
Nina Campbell Les Indiennes fabric collection of printed and embroidered fabrics was inspired by the 17th and 18th century French vogue for textile designs originally produced in East India and traded via the Compagnie des Indes. The self-titled Les Indiennes fabric is a full on paisley inspired ogee design, and is printed on linen-union offering both rich colour combinations and a gentle grey for a contemporary twist. The elegant Nemours is an instant classic showcasing a free-flowing floral trail embroidered on a linen ground, named after a town in the Île-de-France region with a 12th century chateau. Colbert is a nice subtle 1930's print of stylised leaf formations on a combination of viscose with linen, and named after Jean-Baptiste Colbert, the Minister of Finance of Louis XIV, was instrumental in the foundation of the Compagnie des Indes. While Bonnelles is an all-over pattern of artisanal leaf motifs hand block-printed onto linen and is of the same style that you will have noticed in many other Nina Campbell collections over the years. However, this time the leaves are framed with handmade embroidery highlighted with contrasting coloured dots for extra effect. Named after the mid-19th century chateau in Les Yvelines built for the duchesse d'Uzes, heiress to the Veuve Clicquot champagne fortune. With seven designs in total Nina updates her iconic palette of blues, aquas and corals by adding exciting new colour combinations which pair black with emerald, red with teal and by mixing aqua with taupe and ochre.
