Braquenie Fabric

Braquenié fabrics, founded in 1824, was acquired by Pierre Frey in 1991. The French designer fabric brand Braquenié is renowned for its printed cottons, silks and hand-woven rugs, and this distinguished French luxury fabric brand boasts many historical treasures, including textile documents dating back several centuries, carpet samples and watercolour drawings. Braquenié has thus over time attracted and retained the loyalty of a demanding clientele in search of beauty and became the haute-couture house of interior design. The entire upper class of the 19th century filled the panelled gallery located at Rue Vivienne in pursuit of the most exquisite creations. The railway carriages of Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie were lined from floor to ceiling in its creations. The wealthiest men in the world, who hailed from literary, artistic, aristocratic and financial circles alike, desired Braquenié for their lavish residences. Its order books resembled international directories that extended far beyond French borders. They contained names such as Victor Hugo, members of the Rothschild family, Frederic Chopin, the widow Clicquot-Ponsardin, Tsar Nicolas II, Prince Vittorio Emanuele of Savoy, and many others from all the courts of Europe. The original spirit of the brand thus lives on through shared values of tradition, expertise and excellence through Pierre Frey Braquenie fabrics.

Comptoir d'Orient, one of the latest fabric collections from Braquenié explores the European design tradition of taking inspiration from across the world with a collection of fine fabrics full of exotic flowers, pineapples and chinoiseries, as well as the Japanese inspired Okinawa fabric perfect for upholstery and curtains.
