Founded in 1860 and famous for their luxurious floral prints inspired by traditional English and French wallpaper design Sanderson still supply fabrics, paints and wallpapers to the British Royal Palaces. The brand is synonymous with luxury and quality and this collection doesn't disappoint featuring beautiful classic designs as well as some new colourways. We take a look at some of our favourite fabrics and wallpapers from the collection.

The Sanderson One Sixty Collection of wallpapers and fabrics is a look back at some of the best selling and most iconic textiles and papers from their 160 years of history. Founded in 1860 and famous for their luxurious floral prints inspired by traditional English and French wallpaper design Sanderson still supply fabrics, paints and wallpapers to the British Royal Palaces. The brand is synonymous with luxury and quality and this collection doesn't disappoint featuring beautiful classic designs as well as some new colourways.

We take a look at some of our favourite fabrics and wallpapers from the collection.

Botanical Art

The theme behind the wonderful Botanical Art mini-collection is 'bring the outside in' and this is achieved through the collection of fabulous boquets of flowers and ferns. We particularly love the Grandiflora design with its magnificent oversized magnolia blooms. The design is available as both a fabric and a wallpaper, and the conventional printing gives the image a depth of ground, and the subtle light and shade gives the flowers a waxy quality. There are four fabric colourways, including three new ones, Scotch Grey (226864), Emerald (226865), Bright Blue (226866) and Linen/Olive (shown below). Dandelion Clock is a realtively recent wallpaper and fabric print but has been a bestseller since it was first included in a collection in 2008. The design shows dandelion heads waiting for the seeds to be scattered by the wind, it has a distinctly retro 1950s look and this is further enhanced in each of the two colourways, Red (shown below) and Chaffinch (DOPNDA204). The third print we have selected from the Botanical Art theme is the beautiful Etchings and Roses. Three rare prints were faithfully reporduced to create the design. The addition of bold coloured backgrounds provides the perfect base to show off the delicate flower etchings, the result is a stunning wallpaper which has a modern feel. There are two colourways in the collection, Empire Yellow (DPFPET204) and China Blue (shown below).

 

 

Decorative Archive

The Decorative Archive prints in the one sixty collection are a vibrant mix of smaller scale floral trails. The deisgn for Roslyn dates back to 1910 and the celebrated designer William Turner. The charming and enduring design was first released as a wallpaper, with a fabric following in the 1920s, and remained in continuos print until 1974. Since being reintroduced to the Sanderson collection it has proved just as popular and remains a best selling design. The Sanderson one sixy collection gives a choice of five fabric colourways, four are printed on a linen blend but we show the fifth colourway, Eucalyptus and Rowan Berry, which is printed on a plush velvet. The second design we have selected is Amanpuri, this is available as either a fabric or a wallpaper. The original design was redrawn from a typical 1920s interpretation of a Jacobean embroidery design block printed on linen. There are three fabric colourways and three wallpaper colourways. The Pavia fabric design has a classic English country style and depicts horse chestnut blossoms and leaves in a beautiful Ruby and Emerald colourway.

 

 

Iconic Florals

The Iconic Florals features some of the brightest and boldest designs in the one sixty collection. These best-selling designs includes the fabulous Stapleton Park, first launched in 1990, which shows a large boquet in a typical English style with roses, foxgloves and cornflowers. There are four fabric colourways to choose from and three for the wallpapers. Hollyhocks retains a vintage feel, the design is borrowed from a 1937 fabric design and was only recently offered as a wallpaper. For the one sixty collection the Hollyhocks design is offered in three fabric and three wallpaper colourways. The third design we selected from the one sixty collection of Iconic Florals is Very Rose & Peony, where roses and peonies are layered in vibrant colours for dramatic effect. The design was adapted and enlarged from an original textile artwork, the result is very effective. There are 2 wallpapers and 3 fabric colourways to choose from.

 

 

Romantic Nostalgia

The mini-collection of wallpapers and fabrics featured in the Romantic Nostalgia theme are a collection of more delicate and softer designs. The theme conjurs up the countryside and summer days at the beach with a collection of florals, swallows and whimsical sailing boats. Caverley is a design based on an early 19th century blockprint and shows birdss and butterflies perched on trailing branches filled with leaves and blossom. The traditional English design style is available in three wallpaper colourways and a fabric colourway. Poreclain Garden completes our selection from the Romantic Nostalgia theme, the design was inspired by an early 19th century hand painted Chinese wallpaper and features a trailing peony blossom and birds. There are 4 wallpaper and 3 fabric colourways to choose from.

 

 

Touch of Country

The Touch of Country selection features a range of fabrics and papers which immediately transport you to the English countryside. Tally Ho shows a typical hunting scene and the original 1940s design has been a popular addition to a number of Sanderson collections. The three wallpaper colourways and two fabrics each have a colour palette reminiscent of the 1940s. The Cluny ifabric shows birds and rabbits full of life and energy amongst shrubs and flowers in a traditional English style. The design is printed in earthy tones on a linen blend fabric. The final design we selected from the Touch of Country is the Arts and Crafts design of Squirrel and Dove. The original design was by C.F.A Vosey, a textile designer and assistant to William Morris, and dates to the 1890s. It is a truly beautiful and timeless classic and is available as both a wallpaper and fabric with three colourways in each.
