New Design Collaborations 2022

New Design Collaborations 2022

This season has seen a number of exciting collaborations between luxury interiors brands and artists, ceramacists, architects and designers from the wider arts world. We take a look at some of the latest 2022 Spring/Summer collaboration collections.

Wallpaper & Fabric Collaborations Spring 2022

This season seems to be all about collaborations with leading interiors brands partnering with acclaimed interior designers, architects, ceramic artists, fashion designers, and the wider art world. Whilst it is not new for textile and wallpaper designers to work with established artsists, the number of partnerships this season has definitely added a fresh dynamism to this year's  Spring/Summer collections.  We take a look at some of the wallpaper and fabric collections this has spawned.

Botanical Wonders - Wedgwood by Clarke & Clarke

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of the collaboration between Wedgwood and Clarke & Clarke is that this is Wedgwood's first fabric and wallpaper collection in their 260 year history. Founded by Josiah Wedgwood, the company is most famous for the invention of Jasper, an unglazed vitreous fine stoneware, often produced in their signature 'Wedgwood Blue' and white. The company also produces ceramics, tableware and other home accesories in a variety of designs and styles. The debut collection of fabrics and wallpapers mixes contemporary and classic styles in a stylish collection of florals and maximalist designs, including Waterlily a design which has featured consistently in the Wedgwood archive since its creation in the 1800s.

Christian Lacroix Maison and Designers Guild

Christian Lacroix continues his longstanding partnership with Designers Guild with the launch of two new collections for Spring/Summer 2022, Utopia and Cabanon.

The Utopia collection is rich in the unmistakeable energy and flourish of Christian Lacroix's artistic style and is the finale of a trilogy of collections which began two years ago with L’Odyssée and Atlantis. Utopia brings forth a world of imagination, spirit and freedom where the impossible does not exist. Included in this exuberent collection is Atlantis Aube, a mural with large scale exotic flowers inspired by the imagined flaura and fauna of the lost city of Atlantis, and Feather Park, a colourful flock wallpaper in the style of a formal French garden where plants are both feathers and leaves and where you cannot really tell where one ends and the other begins. The Utopia inludes both fabrics and wallpapers and is complemented by a range of cushions and rugs.

The Cabanon fabric collection, includes a mix of iconic designs by Christian Lacroix for Designers Guild full of weaves, velvets and exotic prints for statement upholstery, curtains, cushions and blinds.

The dramatic collection of fabrics and wallpapers in the Villa Nova X Kyra Cane is the result of their collaboration with acclaimed ceramic artist Kyra Cane. Kyra's works can be found in galleries and museums in the UK and beyond and the wonderful collection of fabrics and wallpapers can be complimented by a range of ceramics and other home accessories to complete the look. Borastapeter - Scandinavian Designers III

We are stretching the bounds a little with the inclusion of Scandinavian Designers III, it is less of a collaboration and more of a collection of classic designs from Scandinavian Designers which has been reworked into a collection of fabrics and papers. Such is the success of this approach that this is the third such collection from Boråstapeter but we think you will agree the collections are timeless and worthy of inclusion in our review of Spring/Summer 2022 collaboration collections. Shown below are two designs from the collection Fågelbo and Fruktlåda.

The Fågelbo wallpaper is a perfect for Easter with a design inspired by a Swedish spring garden, originally designed as a fabric in 1943 by Lisbet Jobs it is now available as a wallpaer in the delicate spring colours of yellow, green, blue, red, pink and grey.

Fruktlåda is one of Stig Lindberg's most popular and well-loved designs. Its contemporary scandinavian design originally dates back to 1971 and is available as a wallpaper in three colourways.

Additional fabrics and wallpapers in the collection recreate iconic designs from Alvar Aalto, Gocken Jobs, and Arne Jacobson
