Custom Curtains

At TM Interiors Limited having been established since 1975 the only thing that keeps us going through the everyday ups and downs of one recession, to black Wednesday, credit crunches and double dipped corrections, plus amid all the uncertainty in EU referendums, is the quality of our workmanship in home interiors and the pride in how we produce custom curtains. So with all that said, we thought we would start writing up some case studies from our own in house workroom established for 35 years, so you can really see it’s not all made up marketing hype, and unlike some other online retailers we don't outsource our made to measure services, we work in-house in order to maintain the quality of our custom made curtains. One of our recent customers, Anne a local customer from a little village outside Stamford, Lincolnshire came into the showroom on the 25th January to source her chosen fabric for the master bedroom curtains. Her chosen fabric was GP&J Baker PP50321/3 Latika Aqua Pimento from Baker Lifestyle Echo Indienne quite a nice collection that came out in the A/W of 2014. We will let you judge if you like the design of Baker Lifestyle Latika I believe some of the fabrics or even the collection picked up some Homes and Gardens Fabric Awards in 2014. [ezcol_1half][/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end][/ezcol_1half_end] Anyway, this was to be a one off visit to discuss pattern repeat, and fabric quantities and simply order and pay, as it was her intention to make her own custom curtains, “I haven’t found anyone to make curtains to my standard” was her comment. Well as the curtain workroom at TM Interiors is adjacent to the showroom, and has been working with brands like Zoffany, Sanderson fabrics and more, for many years, Anne was invited to enter and inspect work in progress. Which she did, carefully turning curtains and blinds to inspect the stitching of the finished items. Before leaving, the discussion moved on to the new carpet that she had chosen to replace the existing one in the bedroom, and so we happened to mention that we did the full interior service carpets, curtains, lighting, wallcoverings and paints, and it was therefore encouraging to receive an email the following day saying: ”If you are fair on price I will be happy for you to make the  curtains rather than making them myself and I would be pleased to take you up on your offer of visiting to consider the size of the curtains and fabric requirements. Could you itemize the cost for the flooring showing how much extra you would charge for removal if the existing one is stuck.  I would like to be able to compare your price to our other quote.” [caption id="attachment_3395" align="aligncenter" width="595"] Just to be clear this is not the carpet she chose from Alternative Flooring it is just because of the cat we thought we would include it.....it is a cute cat I think most would agree.[/caption] So we happily visited Anne in her home, the wall to be curtained we were advised was the full length of the bedroom with three single doors leading to the outside balcony, therefore Anne informed us she wanted three pairs of curtains required with 1.5 widths in each curtain on three separate poles. Following the home visit we actually recommended that there should be one curtain with 1.5 widths for each end, and two curtains with 3 widths for the center. We also did away with the three separate curtain poles, and decided to plan where the brackets would fall best to join three curtain poles with only two end finials. We therefore were able to complete the work giving a much neater, and relaxed, one pole look in our opinion. Our workroom carefully hand crafted those made to measure curtains, above, and like any good online curtain company we always hang the curtains to gain some shape, so they drape well prior to installation. We can't really describe them as custom made as in reality there were no trimmings, braid, fringe, or leading edge on these curtains, but they were lined and interlined with thermal lining as per our recommendations. Our opinion was also sought concerning the choice of the carpet for the bedroom and although we agreed with the natural texture chosen, we felt that the chevron design was not quite in keeping with the curtain design, and a plain natural finish from the same carpet manufacturer, Alternative Flooring, would be a better choice. We are pleased to say that our advice was accepted and the finished work is to every ones satisfaction.
