A Closer Look at the Queen's Square Collection from Morris & Co

A Closer Look at the Queen's Square Collection from Morris & Co

We take a look at the wallpapers from the Queen's Square collection from Morris & Co. Morris & Co teamed up with renowned interior designer Ben Pentreath to create the Queen's Square Collections of fabric and wallpaper. We take a look at the wallpapers, although many of the papers are also available as fabrics too. The collection of 18 wallpapers takes its name from the road that housed the first Morris & Co. factory and showroom. Each of the wallpapers in this collection have been reimagined and reworked from original Morris & Co. wallpapers. The result is a stunning collection of wallpapers which are instantly recognisable as Morris designs but which have a distinctly contemporary update through the use of striking colour combinations.

Sunflower

William Morris' classic sunflower design from 1879 remains a floral masterpiece with large scale sunflowers and grapes set out in a formal symmetrical pattern. Sunflower wallpaper is available in two colourways in this collection from Ben Pentreath, choose the chocolate and cream one for a more traditional Morris look or be bold and choose the warm embrace of the red colourway.

The Queen's Square collection also includes four further morris and co wallpaper designs which are offered only in a single colourway. Bachelor's Button, shown below, was inspired by an archive pattern book which featured the design on its cover. It was this book and cover which provided the inspriration for Ben Pentreaths Queen Square collection. Vine, shown below as a fabric, was designed by William Morris in 1874. The design is of scrolling vines with leaves and grapes. It retains its heritage feel but has been given a contemporary look with the bright pops of colour. Blactkhorn (not shown) was originally designed by J.H. Dearle in 1892. A blackthorn bush, native to Europe and used to flavour sloe gin, is shown trailing through the design. Bird & Anemone (not shown) completes the wallpaper collection with a design which is instantly recognisable Morris & Co look.
